Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Mid-Level Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of general/mixed construction projects, from initial conceptual budgets through final bid submission. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of hands-on estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and other project documents across various project types and delivery methods (hard bid, design-build, negotiated).
Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids/proposals.
Analyze historical cost data and market conditions to develop accurate unit pricing.
Assist in developing conceptual and preliminary budgets during early design phases.
Identify project scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
Prepare bid packages, scope sheets, and bid day summaries.
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to validate assumptions and pricing.
Assist with the preparation of proposals, GMP documents, and change order estimates.
Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit price records.
Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as required.
Support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.
Job requirements
2–4 years of experience in construction estimating
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent field/estimating experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar) — willingness to learn our systems is essential.
Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standard practices.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with project management
